Amazing Wind Powered Vehicle by Theo Jansen

Wind Powered VehicleArtist and Engineer Theo Jansen has been designing and creating these wonderful wind powered vehicles for over 10 years. He uses lightweight plastic yellow tubing to construct the vehicle’s skeleton. I realize these projects do not produce energy, but they are so beautiful that I just had to share them. Also featured in wind power.

Part of me is an engineer, who wants to map the progress of mobility. Another part of me is an artist who wants to sculpt the earth around us. I give it shape, and always I strive to push the boundaries of what we know, and what seems possible to us at this moment in time. The walls between art and engineering exist only in our minds, and few have the imagination to see beyond them.

Eventually Theo says he wants to put his kinetic sculptures out in herds on the beaches, so they will live their own lives.
